MEET YOUR GUIDE

Small guide. Expansive imagination.

Meet Randall, Junior Archivist of the Walker Collection. This observant, thoughtful rat invites young visitors to slow down, look closely, and discover what an artwork brings to mind.

An archivist helps care for the stories and records that connect us to the past. Randall begins with something every young visitor can do: notice a detail, ask a question, and share an idea.

“What do you notice first?”

Begin there. Take another look. Your next discovery may be a line, a color, a feeling, or a question.

INAUGURAL EDITION · OCTOBER–DECEMBER 2026

Nine works. Many ways of seeing.

Our quarterly Art Discovery Readers invite young people, families, and educators to explore selected works from the current public exhibition. The inaugural edition centers on nine works now on view.

Visit Art Discovery Readers to explore online prompts and download the 16-page reader and Educator & Family Companion.

LISTEN & LOOK

An invitation to pause.

Randall’s short audio discoveries are in preparation. Each will offer a gentle invitation to look again, imagine, and respond to a work in the current public exhibition.

For now, try this together: look silently for thirty seconds. Name one detail you noticed. Listen to another person’s observation, then look again. What changed?

FOR EDUCATORS & FAMILIES

Make room for every observation.

Choose one work and give it your full attention. Ask open questions, allow quiet time, and invite each learner to explain what they see. A spoken response, a few written words, or a drawing can all begin a meaningful conversation.

Use the Readers page for a simple looking routine and prompts for the nine current works.
