INSTITUTIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT

A Permanent Digital Environment

October 16, 2026 — The Walker Art Collection announces the establishment of its Digital Museum, a developing institutional environment dedicated to presenting, documenting, and interpreting the original visual art of founder and artist Rodney Walker.

The Digital Museum brings together public-facing collection presentations, exhibition information, and a structured pathway for institutional and research engagement. It is designed to support the long-term stewardship of the Collection and to make its artistic vision accessible beyond the boundaries of a physical exhibition space.

Visitors can explore the Digital Museum at walkerartcollection.org/digital-museum.

COLLECTION & STEWARDSHIP

Art Beyond Boundaries

Founded in 2020, the Walker Art Collection is an artist-founded private collection centered on Rodney Walker’s original body of work. Its institutional development emphasizes preservation, provenance, collection documentation, and thoughtful public interpretation.

The Digital Museum extends that mission through a dedicated online presentation. Rather than serving solely as an image gallery, it is being organized as a framework in which artworks, exhibition narratives, supporting records, and research materials can be developed and connected over time.

The Collection’s documentation and access systems will continue to evolve as individual artworks are cataloged, photographed, and prepared for presentation.

PUBLIC & RESEARCH ENGAGEMENT

A Layered Approach to Access

The Digital Museum is organized around differentiated levels of access. Public visitors can engage with selected artwork and institutional interpretation, while dedicated institutional and research environments are intended to support more specialized study and documentation. Internal collection-management materials are maintained separately from public presentation.

Availability of particular records, images, and research resources may vary as documentation and access processes are developed. Public access does not confer image reproduction or publication rights. The Collection’s Image Rights & Reproduction policy provides further guidance.

LOOKING AHEAD

The unTAMED Experience

The Digital Museum also provides an institutional setting for the Walker Art Collection’s planned four-part unTAMED Experience exhibition program. The announced schedule comprises unSOLD (May 2027), unBOUND (November 2027), unLEASH (May 2028), and unDENIABLE (November 2028), with each presentation conceived around 48 original works.

Further exhibition-specific announcements, confirmed details, and supporting materials will be released separately through the Collection’s Media & Press Center.
